Legal Requirements E-mail

It's wise to check up on the Legal Requirements of your country...

(Please note that the following facts have been gleaned from web sites (official and otherwise) and from customers' comments - They may or may not be correct, they are a guide only - keep in mind that this is a confusing subject in some countries, and your enquiries may elicit conflicting answers even from official sources)

The general rule is that:

- if your push bike's PRIMARY motive power is the rider, and the secondary power source (your electric motor kit) is not more than the mandated **maximum, then your bike kit is legal. (Of course, off-road/private property use usually doesn't apply)

President Bush has signed this law.  The new law will assign the governance of electric bike to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, and will define a bike that has pedals, (and is capable of being propelled by those pedals) an electric motor of no more than 750 watts, and a top speed (on motor only) of 20 mph as a "bike."
